The Good
7zip is a very useful tool that is fast and easy to use and is very reliable when it comes to providing improved compression ratio. It can also be utilized as a file manger and works fine. It is supported by most of the popular archive formats and one can even associate them as add on files with the web browser such as Mozilla.
The Bad
7zip uses an interface that is almost out of date and doesn’t handle well when working with larger files as it amounts to memory overheads. For example if one is trying to use a large dictionary of size, say, 96 to 128 MB the memory utilization can go beyond the 1GB mark.
The Truth
Instead of trying to achieve the functions of good archiver and a good file manger by going for two different products it is advisable to try out the 7zip which serves dual purpose of being a good archiver while also having the features of file manager.
